I’m an Engineer who enjoys figuring out and fixing problems. The roles I’ve executed including Data/Platform/DevOps/Machine Learning Engineer, algorithm design and development, and some cloud (Azure) engineering. I have a further background in software development, CICD (GitLab and Azure DevOps), Databricks management, (Confluent Cloud) Kafka, Kubernetes + ArgoCD deployments, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and Artificial Intelligence.
The last 5 years I’ve worked in AI/data departments working closely with data engineers/scientists/analytics to help them do their core role, while I handle the rest of the engineering. For the last 2 years I’ve worked in a central data team at ABN AMRO helping to develop and maintain their Data Platform and teaching the more junior (and medior) data/platform engineers with programming, Azure, Terraform, and (Azure) Networking. My last year at Schiphol I’ve helped setup and maintain the central data factory department. This last year I’ve worked as the lead data engineer for the AI department of which the last six months I’ve also setup Terraform code for the bigger department for Azure Private Endpoint/networking according to security standards.
I like to find the best solutions for problems at hand. I’m not a specialist in a certain area, yet I try to understand and be able to work in as many fields/languages/architectures as possible. If most people focus on specific techniques, I can fix the technology overarching problems – which semi-automatically happened at Schiphol. When people (analytics, scientists, or engineers) couldn’t figure out their issue, they ended up with me. This might be my USP. Basically, I tend to fill the knowledge gaps.
(Data) Platform Engineering. Align source data using AKS (preingestion) to DLT (Databricks medallion architecture) to the end user
The Data, AI and Analytics department (DnA) focusses on taking value out of real-time data. I worked for 2 sub-departments: AI and CDF; in close collaboration both within as outside of DnA. Final year as Lead AI Data Engineer, of which the last 6 months also on making DnA’s Azure resources complaint to cyber security standards Started off with data ingestion, then CDF and AI (Azure, Confluent) platform management. Final role was lead data engineer for AI department. Since the number of activities is quite large, I’ve summarizes this in my full resume.
